EQUITY: Law of equity controls cases where the court of laws is insufficient. Most jurisdictions have merged courts of equity and law.
ESTOPPEL: A person's own act, or preponderance of facts, which preclude his or her later making claims to the contrary.
EVIDENCE: A fact presented before a court such as a witness' statement, a tangible object, etc. that relates to or establishes a fact in contention.
EXCEPTIONS: Declarations by either party preserving the right to appeal a judge's ruling upon a formal motion.
EXECUTION: Enforcement of judgment.
EXHIBIT: A document or other item introduced as evidence during a trial or hearing.
EXPERT WITNESS: A witness who has special knowledge pertaining to the claims at issue that is beyond the experience, training and/or knowledge of the average layperson.
