Certified or registered mail with return receipt if defendant resides in same county where suit filed, sheriff or by a court-approved adult.

Fourteen to forty days after summons issued.

Allowed, except in Cook County Pro Se branch. Required for corporations.

If claim or counterclaim exceeds $5000.

Either party may appeal for a review of law, not facts, to Appellate Court within 30 days of judgment.

Either party may request a jury trial. If jury trial is demanded in Cook County, Pro se branch the case is transferred to Small Claims.
