Defendant must appear within 20 days. The hearing is set five to twenty days after defendant's initial appearance.

If defendant requests a jury trial or counterclaims exceed $5,000, the case is controlled by formal rules of civil procedure in District Court.

Either party may appeal for a review of law, not facts, to District Court within 20 days of judgment.

No equitable relief. No jury trial. Resident defendants have 20 days to respond and nonresidents have 60 days to answer or lose by default. Written pleadings are not required.
